Automatically Controlling Devices
In addition to controlling devices directly, it is possible to control devices automatically by running predefined sets of commands (Programs) that specify the function each instrument in the system should perform at a specific time. Programs can be created to fulfill various functions (for example, system startup, system shutdown, or sample analysis).
To run programs on a system, create a list of injections (a Sequence) and specify the program to run on each injection. The sequence also includes other injection information (for example, the autosampler vial position and the injection volume). A sequence can consist of one or more injections.
To run the injections, first load the sequence into a Batch and then start the batch. Injections are processed in the order in which they are listed in the sequence.
These are the principal steps required to set up and run instruments automatically:
Create a program
Create a sequence
Load the sequence into the batch
Start the batch
All of the above steps can be performed from the Sequence Control panel.
